The dinar has continued to strengthen against the euro for the seventh consecutive day, and on Tuesday its value increased by 56 paras, thus setting the official middle exchange rate at RSD 104,3460, announced the National Bank of Serbia.

This is the highest value of the Serbian currency since the beginning of 2011, whereas the lowest was on January 6, when one euro was worth RSD 106.4947.

The central bank bought EUR 5 million at the interbank foreign currency market so as to ease the excessive daily volatility of the exchange rate.

This is NBS's first intervention since the beginning of the year, whereas in 2010 it sold EUR 2.579 billion, and bought EUR 226.5 million.
