The final deadline to confirm the indictment related to the Medicus hospital case of organ trafficking is February 5, although the decision on the case was supposed to be made Friday, EULEX spokesperson Kristina Herodes has stated.

Herodes told Radio Free Europe that the deadline was extended because of the complexity of the indictment.

A hearing regarding the case was held January 6. The indictment charges seven employees of Medicus, a private hospital in Pristina, with involvement in an international network of human organ traffickers.

One of the suspects in the case, a Turkish doctor by the name of Yusuf Sonmez, was recently arrested in Istanbul, but the Turkish authorities have not yet decided whether to extradite him to Pristina.
