Kosovo Parliament Speaker Jakup Krasniqi said that a session of the Kosovo parliament at which the government and president would be elected would not be held on Feb. 21.
Kosovo Parliament Speaker Jakup Krasniqi said that a session of the Kosovo parliament at which the government and president would be elected would not be held on Feb. 21.
"The ruling coalition asked for the continuation of the convening session of the Kosovo parliament, which we had ended. For this reason, the Parliament presidency decided that there would be no session today [Feb. 21]," Krasniqi told journalists.
According to the rules of procedure, the governing coalition can seek the holding of a regular, extraordinary or emergency session of the Kosovo parliament, he added.
"If a regular session is sought, it cannot be held in the next three days. Extraordinary or emergency sessions can be held the next day," said Krasniqi.
The Pristina media previously reported that the opposition had been against holding a parliament session at which the government and president of Kosovo would be elected on Feb. 21 and had threatened to boycott.
The Kosovo parliament elected a parliament speaker and deputy parliament speaker and verified MPs' mandates on Feb. 21.
