The EULEX police arrested Wednesday several persons in Kosovo-Metohija on suspicion of war crimes, including, as the Pristina-based media reported, regional commander of the Prizren police Nedzmi Kranici.

EULEX spokesperson Irina Gudeljevic confirmed for Tanjug that apart from the arrests, the EULEX police have carried out several searches.

She did not want to reveal any details of the arrests, but said that the warrant was issued by a EULEX judge of the Pristina Municipal Court.

The investigation was carried out under the monitoring of the Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office (STRK).

The Pristina-based media reported however that the arrests were carried out upon a warrant of the Kosovo prosecution comprising 11 persons, four of whom have already been arrested.

It was underlined that the arrested persons are members of the former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).

The Pristina-based RTV 21 reported that the police have arrested several high officials of the Prizren police, including Krasnici.

Former KLA members operated in the district of Prizren and the municipality of Malisevo, central Kosovo.
