Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) President Tomislav Nikolic said Wednesday the opposition rally set for April 16 will end the same day, refusing to reveal his party's earlier announced offer that the government will supposedly not be able to refuse.

"The rally will go on until its end, and that will be on April 16," Nikolic told reporters after taking part in a Tanjug roundtable, entitled Serbia's Foreign Policy Challenges.

"We will do something, and the government will have to react. It will not be able to ignore it," he stressed, adding that until that time, he expects a call from Serbian President Boris Tadic.

"The outcome could be that we do not reach an agreement, but the people should still see that we talked and could talk again. On the other hand, the outcome could be an agreement as well," Nikolic remarked, adding that he would answer such a call from the president.

He denied any chance of the protesters taking over public institutions, adding that Serbia is ripe for a political change and the EU enthusiasm among the people is on the drop because of the current government's results. What more should happen to finally have the general election by December 18, he stated.
