The new EU Representative in Kosmet will be chosen in the next three months, since the mandate of current international and European envoy Peter Feith will expire tomorrow, confirmed Maja Kocijancic, the spokesperson of the European Commission.

According to the diplomatic sources in the EU, in the transitional period Feith’s duties will probably be performed by Fernando Gentilini, a diplomat experienced in Balkan affairs, coming from the cabinet of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton.

The representative of the Union in Kosmet is appointed by the EU Council of Ministers, and several European officials have already submitted candidature for the post.

However, it is said in Brussels that it is too early to comment, since new candidatures are expected, as well as the intensive discussion on the subject.
