Niebel: Germany backs Kosovo's economic development

German Economic Cooperation and Development Minister Dirk Niebel said in Kosovo on May 4 that Berlin would continue to back Kosovo's economic development, read a statement from Kosovo Premier Hashim Thaci.

German Economic Cooperation and Development Minister Dirk Niebel said in Kosovo on May 4 that Berlin would continue to back Kosovo's economic development, read a statement from Kosovo Premier Hashim Thaci.

Niebel attended the laying of a corner stone for a high voltage power grid connecting Kosovo and Albania, after which he met with Thaci.

For the grid, Germany has secured a EUR75.5 million loan, through the German development bank KfW.
In the meeting with Thaci, Niebel said the loan showed Germany's strong support to Kosovo's economic development.

Niebel also met with assembly speaker Jakup Krasniqi and the ministers of finance and economic development, Bedri Hamza and Besim Beqaj.
