The Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management will soon, most probably in the week ahead, present the measures which should offer farmers various means of funding, Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management Dusan Petrovic stated on Thursday.

Petrovic stated that this primarily refers to affordable loans for promotion of agricultural production, adding that the ministry is close to the end of negotiations with business banks on subsidizing loans for farmers.

He underlined that the loans will primarily be used for support to cattle breeding and other agricultural areas, and that they will be the main instrument of agricultural policy.

“We believe that the funds, which are always in scarcity, have to be used in the most efficient manner, and that this will be realized by offering affordable loans to farmers who will thus be able to significantly improve production conditions,” Petrovic told journalists in the Palace of Serbia.
