A large thunderstorm which lasted almost two hours on Monday brought to the flooding of the Josanica and Trnavica Rivers, which jeopardized over 1,000 homes in Novi Pazar (southwest Serbia), Deputy Mayor Vujica Tiosavljevic has stated for Tanjug.

Tiosavljevic said that a large material damage was inflicted, adding that apart from the houses, the complete infrastructure was damaged, cutting off electricity and water in the part of the town near the rivers.

The water took five or six bridges and several cars, and the teams of the city administration, police and armed forces helped the jeopardized citizens in the field, he said.

The citizens were also asked to get engaged and help each other, Tiosavljevic said, adding that Novi Pazar's emergency situations headquarters are monitoring the situation and taking the necessary measures
