Government to allocate RSD 20 million for flood-hit Novi Pazar

The Serbian government will grant RSD 20 million aid to the city of Novi Pazar, southwestern Serbia, which was hit by flood on Monday evening, Tanjug was told in the Serbian government.

The Serbian government will grant RSD 20 million aid to the city of Novi Pazar, southwestern Serbia, which was hit by flood on Monday evening, Tanjug was told in the Serbian government.

The government will decide on this aid at a phone session.

Densely populated parts of the city - Trnava, Ceremidzinica and Sutenovac were flooded by the Trnavica and Josanica Rivers.

The floods have jeopardized about 500-600 houses and the material damage is huge, Tanjug was told by Deputy Mayor Vujica Tiosavljevic, adding that phone lines, water and electricity supply are not available in these parts of the city.

Members of the Sector for Emergency Management of the Serbian Interior Ministry and the Serbian Army are on the scene.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic is expected to arrive in Novi Pazar during the day, while Head of the Sector for Emergency Management Predrag Maric and Police Director Milorad Veljovic visited the city on Tuesday morning.
