Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev will be paying Serbia a two-day visit on June 8 where he will meet with Serbian officials, attend the grand opening of Tasmajdan Park in Belgrade, and visit the city of Novi Sad.

After a reception, Aliyev will meet with President Boris Tadic, followed by Parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic Dejanovic in the afternoon.

Aliyev will open Tasmajdan Park with Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas and the Serbian president, and the officials will plant a tree of friendship and unveil a memorial to former Azerbaijani president Heydar Aliyev and Serbian writer Milorad Pavic.

The Azerbaijani government gave EUR2 million for the revamp, while the city assembly passed a decision on Sept. 22, 2010 to erect a memorial honoring Azerbaijan's former president.
