Serbia's Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Milutin Mrkonjic and Slovakia's Minister of Economy Juraj Miskov signed Friday in Bratislava a protocol which should improve economic cooperation between the two countries in infrastructure and traffic, energy, agriculture and other areas, as well as boost trade.
After signing the protocol drawn up at the fourth meeting of the Serbia-Slovakia economic cooperation committee, the ministers pointed out the two countries would turn to new forms of cooperation and joint investments. Slovakia's Tatravagonka already acquired Subotica-based rail vehicle maker Bratstvo last year.
Mirkonjic told Tanjug that a major Slovakian company expressed interest in buying Serbian road construction companies during the two-day committee meeting in Bratislava.
He said the Serbian government would fully support such undertakings.
The Slovakian economy minister said the first committee meeting after two years was very successful and that his country would continue to support Serbia on its way to the EU.
The protocol also includes a plan to start work this year on a major gas pipeline, Aleksinac - Novi Pazar - Tutin, in a consortium with Slovakian companies.
The document is made up of conclusions made by working groups for traffic and infrastructure projects, trade and investments, energy, industry and auto clusters, agriculture, environmental protection, finance and export insurance. The committee will next meet in Belgrade in May 2012.
