The Executive Council of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina has adopted unanimously a set of conclusions regarding the public property bill, with the representatives of all the parties of Vojvodina's ruling coalition voting for it, head of the council Bojan Pajtic said Friday.
The conclusions are based on three key principles, functionality, economy and enforcement of Vojvodina's authority, which is based on the law on transfer of authority, Pajtic said after a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic.
"We have stressed that Vojvodina has built over 1,500 km of roads in the province over the past few years and that it is logical to turn regional roads over to Vojvodina," Pajtic noted.
The provincial authorities also built or reconstructed more than 108 km of embankments, which is why the canal network should be owned by Vojvodina.
He also stated that the ownership of local and regional railway facilities should also be granted to Vojvodina in order to raise the efficiency of the railway system.
The province's investments through its capital investment fund should be defined as its property, said Pajtic, adding that the buildings that are the home of its institutions should also belong to Vojvodina.
The public property bill should also settle the issues regarding the property that belongs to former Yugoslav republics and define how much of that property belongs to Vojvodina, he pointed out.
A simpler procedure regarding ownership transfer was also proposed, Pajtic stated.
According to him, council representatives agreed on many of the conclusions with officials of the national government.
