Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic stated last night that Serbia chose peace and peaceful solutions for the current issues consistent with the standards of the international legislature.

Speaking at the official ceremony on the occasion of the Security and Intelligence Agency Day, Cvetkovic said that our country showed that it is fully ready to cooperate and improve regional and global security.

Cvetkovic pointed out that Serbia’s pro-European stance implies unity of our country’s security and the security of the whole Europe, adding that these goals require professionalism and preparedness of all the parties comprising the security system in Serbia.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Serbia, depending on the economic potential, will invest in the development of this system and the improvement of its efficiency.

Aside from its efforts to become the leading economic force in the region, one of Serbia’s main goals is to become the main factor of stability in the region, Cvetkovic said.

The national security system must set up efficient and unique answers to all security threats Serbia is facing and ensure a long-term stability, Cvetkovic said and added that today BIA is one of the pillars of security in Serbia.

This Agency has been reorganized and it has adapted to modern working conditions participating in the fight against organized crime and terrorism in accordance with national interests of Serbia, the Prime Minister pointed out.

Cvetkovic added that as independent specialised government agency, BIA shares the society’s destiny and faces security risks, challenges and threats, as well as values that have to be protected by the national security system.
