After last week’s explosions at the Swiss and Chilean embassies in Rome, in which 2 people were injured, suspected explosive packages were found at the embassies of Greece, Denmark and Monaco in the Italian capital on Monday morning.
A suspicious package was found in front of the Greek embassy in Rome. Firemen and police are on the spot, the Italian ANSA Agency reported.
Reuters reported that suspected explosive packages were also found at the embassies of Denmark and Monaco.
Earlier on Monday, a similar package was discovered at the Venezuelan embassy, but it turned out to be a false alarm.
Italian anarchist group the Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI) claimed responsibility for December 23 parcel-bomb blasts at the Swiss and Chilean embassies in Rome which left 2 people seriously injured. A note found in a box near one of the injured employees read: Long live FAI, long live anarchy.
Police and Italian officials connected these explosions with 14 parcel bombs sent by anarchists to embassies in Athens, French President Nikolas Sarkozy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi last month. Two of those packages went off, but there were no casualties.
