A police spokesman said that, at the time of the attack, more than 300 Iraqi men were standing in line in front a police recruiting centre with their documents, where they were lining up hoping to get a job as a police trainee.

Hospitals are full of dead and injured, and citizens are being called from mosque speakers to donate blood.

The attack happened in former dictator Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit, 150 km north of Baghdad, and province Salahuddin is often a target of attacks rebellious Islam Sunnites are held responsible for, as they are opposition of ruling Shiites in Baghdad.
