Stavreski to meet senior IMF, WB officials in Washington

Deputy PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski, who takes part at World Bank (WB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings in Washington, Saturday will meet with senior officials of the two financial institutions.

 Deputy PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski, who takes part at World Bank (WB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings in Washington, Saturday will meet with senior officials of the two financial institutions.

Future cooperation and implementation of new four-year partnership strategy are key topics of discussion that Stavreski will hold with Philippe Le Houerou, World Bank's vice president for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, WB Executive Director Rudolf Jan Treffers and Director for Macedonia Jane Armitage.

The focus will be on spheres and projects based on three pillars – reforms to increase of competition, social sector reforms and activities connected with investments in capacities for renewable energy sources.

Stavreski will inform IMF officials Marek Belka, Wes McGrew and Age Bakker on government’s policies in fiscal sector.

Saturday afternoon, “Doing Business” top ten reformers were to be presented with awards, including Macedonia, which is ranked third.

Each spring, committees of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Board of Governors gather in Washington, DC to review progress of the work of the World Bank and IMF on poverty reduction, economic development, and international finance.
