Croatia: Hospitality trade drops in first quarter

The value of trade in the hospitality sector was 1.75 billion kunas (243 million Euros), a decrease of 11.5 per cent compared to the same period last year, the Central Bureau of Statistics reports.

At the same time, the prices of the hospitality services grew by 2.4 per cent, which means that the real fall is closer to 13.6 per cent.

Of the 1.75 billion kunas, 31.8 per cent was attributed to beverage services, 47.7 to food, 16.1 per cent to accommodations and 4.4 per cent to other services.

The hospitality industry employed around 62,093 people out of which 21,226 worked in accommodations, while 40.325 worked in the preparation and serving of food and beverages, the statistics show.
