Petrom, Proprietatea Fund and Hidroelectrica are the first three rankers in the 2010 Top 100 Most Valuable Companies in Romania, a chart put together by Ziarul Financiar (ZF) and Capital Partners investment house.

The three companies have a market value of EUR 4.5 bln, EUR 3.8 bln and EUR 3.35 bln respectively, a change from last year’s where the top three positions were held by Petrom, Orange and Proprietatea Fund respectively. Hidroelectrica and Proprietatea making it into the top three slots means power companies hold a prominent position in the standings, given the latter’s bulky stake in power companies.

Next came mobile telephony operator Orange – EUR 3.151 bln euros, Vodafone – EUR 2.683 bln, Romgaz – EUR 2.578 bln, BRD – EUR 2.008 bln, BCR – EUR 1.898 bln, NuclearElectrica – EUR 1.747 bln and Romtelecom – EUR 1.1 bln. The company value was calculated based on financial data in 2009 for untraded companies and the stock market value for those traded.

At the 2010 ZF Awards Gala there have also awarded in the category “The Way Out Crisis” five special prizes for individuals or organizations that led the way to economic re-launching this year, namely Nokia Romania (as the company with the fastest ascension in the TOP 100 Most Valuable Companies), Cris-Tim (for its initiatives aimed at getting out of crisis, namely stepping up the opening of new stores), Automobile Dacia (the no 1 exporter while the crisis was in full swing), CEZ Romania, for the largest wind farm investment in Romania, and Radu Georgescu, for founding and selling Gecad ePayment.

The Alka Company, one of the oldest Ziarul Financiar subscribers too received a special award at the 2010 ZF Gala. The event was held at JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel and was attended by over 300 leaders of the business environment in Romania. Are you ready to take a step forward in medical education?
