Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and Coordinator for the clear-up of the consequences of the earthquake in Kraljevo Milan Markovic stated today that 16,000 damage reports have been submitted so far, voicing his hope that these facilities will be renovated next year.

Appearing on Radio Television Serbia, Markovic specified that between 400 and 500 houses on the territory of Kraljevo will have to be demolished, noting that 1,553 facilities are beyond salvage.

One commission can inspect 10–15 facilities a day, but we are trying to increase this capacity with the help of engineers from the Serbian Chamber of Engineers, he added.

By 20 November, a total of 11,365 facilities have been inspected and it has been determined that 1,553 of these can no longer be used in any way.

The Minister affirmed that for a certain number of people the state will provide containers in which they can live until new houses are built for them or until they receive construction material to renovate their houses.

Our priorities are those 1,553 facilities which can no longer be of any use, the Minister underlined, adding that schools are the biggest problem.

Out of a total number of 16,200 pupils, 9,200 are attending lessons, while 7,000 will have to be relocated to other schools or some other adequate facilities for a period of time, Markovic added.
