UNESCO will give USD 50,000 in emergency aid for the restoration of cultural monuments which were damaged in the recent earthquake in the Kraljevo region

UNESCO will give USD 50,000 in emergency aid for the restoration of cultural monuments which were damaged in the recent earthquake in the Kraljevo region, Serbian Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic said late Friday after a meeting with Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Irina Bokova.

Bradic told Tanjug that the financial aid that UNESCO pledged at the meeting Friday will be followed by expert assistance, which will be arranged in the coming period. He added that the Ministry of Culture proposed that part of the Yugoslav Film Archive be included in the UNESCO archives.

"Cultural monuments which will be included on UNESCO's list in the near future are very important for us, as well as the projects that we will nominate for inclusion on the intangible heritage list," Bradic added. Bradic met with Bokova at the end of a three-day visit to Paris.
