A protest by disgruntled miners is more likely after the last meeting with the director of the mine with the management of BH Electric Power (EP) last Wednesday, at which nothing concrete was agreed on.

President of the Independent Union of Coal Mine Workers BiH, Fikret Berbic, told Avaz that the meeting was only organized to buy time and that they did not even presented any suggestions on how to improve the conditions in which miners live and work.

Berbic said that miners will wait until next Tuesday, when they are expecting to meet with the new Minister for Energy, Industry and Mining in the Federation, Erdal Trhulj.

"We stand by the possibility of a general strike, which can occur immediately after the 1st of May. Simply put, we no longer have anything to wait for", said Berbic.

The basic requirement of the miners was the increase of their minimum hourly from 2.30 KM to 3.20 KM.
