The Albanian government has revealed that in 2008 and 2009, Montenegro imported obsolete weapons from the country, repaired it, and then sold to third countries, the Podgorica-based daily Dan reports.
According to a report by the Albanian Defense Ministry that was forwarded to the parliament in Tirana, Montenegro imported about 170,000 explosive shells which were later sold.
It is pointed out that this was done despite the information that after gaining its state independence in 2006, Montenegro had in its military depots thousands of tons of military equipment which should have been destroyed.
According to the daily, the Montenegrin Ministry of Defense confirmed it was true that the country's military-technical industry had imported weapons from Albania, repaired them in factories in Montenegro, and then exported them to third countries.
