From the headquarters of the Socialist Party (SP), the head of the opposition, Edi Rama, made an appeal to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to certify the result of the May 8 elections. In his speech, Rama said that the winner is now known worldwide, and this is shown by 485 minutes of the counted votes.
“We won and we posses 485 minutes for each vote counted in every ballot box in Tirana. CEC has the legal obligation to declare the result based on these minutes. We have never doubted that this CEC might respect the legal rights of the opposition. What is happening today goes beyond everything and infringes the patience of the people that voted the result that is now worldwide known,” said Rama.
Later Rama expressed his conviction that no one can reverse the result of May 8.
“I want to ask Sali to stop here and to not infringe the law. Albania needs calmness and a vision for its citizens’ future. We are ready to give our contribution, but what is happening today in CEC reminds us the stories of the past, which should not be repeated,” said Rama.
In the end, the head of the SP expressed his conviction that he has no doubt that the Socialists will react with all their force to protect the victory of elections, which has not yet been certified by CEC.
