The European Union should introduce a mechanism for the quick temporary re-introduction of the visa regime for certain countries in exceptional and extraordinary circumstances, which the European Commission will propose on May 24, but this does not mean the returning of EU visas for Serbia and FYRMacedonia.

BETA was told this by Martin Grabjec, a spokesman of the European Commission in Brussels, on May 23, who also stressed that certain reports in some media about this are not true.

Some reports say that the visa-free regime is to be abolished in the EU's "Schengen zone" because the number of "fake asylum-seekers" is still large.

Grabjec explained that this will only represent the supplementing of existing regulations on the EU visa-free regime for all countries of the world.

This does not mean that visas will be immediately reintroduced for the Serbian citizens traveling in the EU, but a possibility of a far quicker reintroduction of visas for some countries in extraordinary circumstances.

On June 9 and 10 in Luxembourg, the EU Council of Ministers is expected to adopt the proposal of the European Commission.
