Homen said in a statement to the Tanjug news agency that Bosnia-Herzegovina was submitted a proposal for the conclusion of an expanded agreement on providing evidence, which regulates the possibility that the defendant serves a sentence in the country of their nationality.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice Slobodan Homen said today that the Ministry of Justice has sent a proposal to Croatia for amending the Agreement on extradition of nationals charged with crime offences except for war crimes.

Homen said in a statement to the Tanjug news agency that Bosnia-Herzegovina was submitted a proposal for the conclusion of an expanded agreement on providing evidence, which regulates the possibility that the defendant serves a sentence in the country of their nationality.

Homen recalled that a trilateral meeting of ministers of justice of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia was held in early July in Sremski Karlovci.

The issue of war crimes still remains at the level of national legislation and this is an issue we should deal with in future, said the State Secretary of Justice.

He said that the proposed agreement allows mutual transfer of cases of new criminal offences.

Homen said that by strengthening regional cooperation Serbia and the region are getting closer to the EU.

He recalled the importance of joint regional fight against organised crime and all other types of crime as many cases are of inter-regional and inter-ethnic character.
