Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic and KFOR Commander Major General Erhard Buhler announced yesterday after a meeting in Kosovska Mitrovica that KFOR will guard the enthronement of Serbian Patriarch Irinej on 3 October at the Pec Patriarchate.

We have reached agreement that only through a partnership relationship and the respect of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 can we keep peace in the region.

I demanded that more attention is paid to returnee communities as attacks on Serbian returnees that happened in the village of Zac near Istok must not repeat, said the Minister.

The KFOR assured Bogdanovic that KFOR soldiers will do everything to ensure that returnees and Serbs are able to return to their centuries-old homes.

Buhler and Bogdanovic also condemned the recent incidents in Kosovska Mitrovica on 11 September, after the Kosovo Albanians from the southern part of the city began celebrating the victory of the Turkish basketball team against Serbia and tried to cross into northern Serbian part of the city.
