Citing diplomatic sources, Tirana-based Top Channel reported that U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has called on Athens to recognize the independence of Kosovo.

According the source, the issue of Kosovo was raised at a meeting that Biden had with Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou at the White House on Tuesday.

The American side argued its request by pointing out the stability in the region after the declaration of Kosovo’s independence.
