Businessmen from Scandinavia are among the largest investors in Serbia, but not only of money but also of knowledge and technology, Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said at the opening of the manifestation 'Days of Scandinavia' in Belgrade late Thursday.

The prime minister said that the companies which had come from Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway, had brought with them a particular corporate culture that was of paramount importance for the Serbian economy.

He said that although the scope of the economic cooperation and investment was high in comparison with other countries, “one should never be satisfied,” and expressed confidence that events of this type would enhance the economic cooperation between Serbia and the Nordic countries.

Cvetkovic also expressed his expectation that in the future, with the support of the Serbia government, the volume of investment and foreign trade would be increased.

Executive Director of Nordic Business Alliance Sladjana Bozovic said that this event was organized with the idea of promoting cross-country and regional operations, strengthening economic ties and exchanging business experience with companies from Serbia.

The theme of this year's event (held on December 2-4) is innovation and design, and bearing in mind that the Nordic countries are very successful in these fields, it should be helpful to the local economy, said Bozovic.

The opening of the Days of Scandinavia was attended by Danish Ambassador Mette Kjuel-Nielsen, Norwegian Ambassador Nils Ragnar Kamsvag, Swedish Ambassador Krister Bringeus and Finnish Ambassador Kari Veijalainen.

The ambassadors said that they recognized the business potential of Serbia, and expressed their expectation that such events would contribute to the strengthening of business ties and the overall economic cooperation.
