Serbian Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic announced on Thursday the arrival of new investors in Nis, south Serbia, and expressed expectation that the city will again become the industrial centre of southern Serbia, as it once used to be.

At the opening of a bridge over the South Morava River, Dinkic said that he and 15 South Korean businessmen will visit potential locations for future investments on Thursday. The minister said that the Korean entrepreneurs will follow the example set by the Korean Yura company, which has become the fastest and most efficient investor in Serbia.

According to Dinkic, Yura company is building a factory in Nis which will provide 1,500 new jobs in the first stage of its operation, while the factory's employment potential will reach 2,000 once the plant becomes fully operational.

The minister reminded that the construction of the factory began in August and that the production in the plant should start as soon as spring 2011.

A total of EUR 10 million will be invested in the construction of the factory, while another EUR 5 million will be invested in its equipment.

The plant will take up 20,000 square metres, and Yura company will be provided with incentives of EUR 7,000 for each new job it creates.

Dinkic expressed satisfaction that a Korean delegation returned the visit to Serbia after only three months since his visit to Seoul.
