The restructuring will provide KFOR with two new battle groups, which will act throughout Kosovo and answer directly to the KFOR commander.
NATO's Kosovo Force (KFOR) Commander Erhard Buehler has said that KFOR will complete its restructuring in a few days, leaving it with 5,000 troops on the field.
KFOR will remain fully operational by becoming more flexible and mobile and by maintaining a high level of readiness and professionalism among its troops, Buehler noted in a written statement.
The situation in Kosovo has improved significantly and can be described as calm and stable overall thanks to help from the population and local politicians and religious leaders, he stressed.
The restructuring will provide KFOR with two new battle groups, which will act throughout Kosovo and answer directly to the KFOR commander.
KFOR will not be in direct contact with the population any longer.
