Deputy Leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Aleksandar Vucic stated Tuesday that the party will hold a rally on April 16, if until March 21 the government does not accept their proposal to call early elections immediately after Serbia obtains a candidate status.

Deputy Leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Aleksandar Vucic stated Tuesday that the party will hold a rally on April 16, if until March 21 the government does not accept their proposal to call early elections immediately after Serbia obtains a candidate status.

The SNS proposal is the best solution, as it would ease all the tensions, Vucic told journalists at a press conference.

He explained that if accepted, the party's proposal would prolong the holding of early elections for at least two months.

If they do not understand the drive for change, they must agree on the compromise and give Serbian citizens what they want - elections this year, Vucic said.

He estimated that it would be vital for the government to accept the SNS proposal which would enable it to operate normally for the next few months, “at least by September” when the campaign for the early elections should start.

Vucic underlined that with its proposal the SNS is not meeting the ruling coalition halfway, but is rather demonstrating its “broadmindedness and willingness to reach a compromise”.
