European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic opened Thursday an EU Information Centre in Belgrade in which the citizens will be able to update or broaden their knowledge of the European Union, the EU integration process and funds.
Opening of this centre at the Belgrade Youth Centre was also attended by European Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele, Head of the EU delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert, and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic.
The EU Information Centre is a project of the EU delegation to Belgrade, which is designed to inform the public about the EU and its institutions, as well as the relations between Serbia and the EU.
The centre should provide an opportunity for citizens to get to know the EU institutions better, as well as inform them about the stages of the EU integration process, including the projects which the EU is financing in this area.
Visitors of the centre will have 10 computers at their disposal to search the EU databases and websites, while the staff will be eager to answer all questions pertaining to the EU, as well as give free leaflets about the union, which can also be downloaded from the website www.euinfo.rs.
Following the opening, Barroso, Fuele and Degert were answering questions posed by university professors and students, non-governmental organizations and organizations dealing with the EU integration process.
