The EULEX prosecutor with the Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office (KSTK) issued indictments against two persons associated with the Medicus clinic case on suspicion that they were engaged in human organ trafficking, EULEX spokeswoman Irina Gudeljevic told Tanjug on Monday.
The indictment brought against Yusuf Sonmez on Friday includes human trafficking, organized crime and unlawful exercise of medical activities, while Israeli Moshe Harel is charged with human trafficking and organized crime.
“These crimes were allegedly committed at the Medicus clinic in Pristina in 2008, and their victims were from various parts of the world. Pristina's District Court issued arrest warrants, and Interpol international ones for both of them,” Gudeljevic noted.
The case of the Medicus clinic, at which human organs were allegedly illegally transplanted, was opened by the Kosovo Police Service and UNMIK in November 2008, which later forwarded it to EULEX and the Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office.
