The Danube festival dubbed 'Art Sails' will be organized at the Belgrade Fortress on September 2-11 for the first time, and the main program will be held at the Nebojsa Tower, the festival initiator, director Nebojsa Bradic, has announced.

Bradic told Tanjug that the festival represents a significant cultural event within the Danube Strategy, and that it will offer high quality art content to the visitors.

"The idea is for the festival to present cultural heritage of Belgrade and Serbia, but also use it as inspiration for new art pieces, to activate new audience and encourage art work with the young people," he explained.

The program will include the premiere of the play Istar by Ivan Brkljancic (Istar - old Slavic name for the Danube River), and the project dubbed Last Journey of Rigas Feraios, which will begin by sailing the Danube and will end at the Nebojsa Tower, as the last stop of the Greek poet and national hero.

The St. George String Ensemble, lutist Edin Karamazov and opera singer Katarina Jovanovic will perform within the music program.
