Serbian Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric said Monday in Kragujevac that seven automotive component plants that are to cater for “Fiat Automobiles Serbia” will be completed by the end of 2011, and that they will hire around 1,000 people, while the investments are worth EUR 100 million.

Visiting the construction sites for four foreign automotive component factories in the village of Grosnica (near Kragujevac), Ciric said that the government will fulfill its obligation and build the road network to that location by the year's end.

Ciric said that two-thirds of the planned production facilities should be completed by March or April 2012.

When asked to specify the number of workers, Ciric said that around 2,500 people will work in the FAS factory, and other 1,000 people in the automotive component plants.

FAS General Manager Giovanni De Filippis said that four automotive part makers producing plastic seats and rubber parts, will be situated at Grosnica, while other three, which produce exhaust systems and electronic parts will utilize the space of the old car factory.

The opening of these building sites was also attended by United Regions of Serbia (URS) leader Mladjan Dinkic, Kragujevac Mayor Veroljub Stevanovic and a number of guests.
