Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and German Chancellor Angela Merkel concluded at today’s meeting that Germany and Serbia are important political and economic partners.

Cvetkovic acquainted Merkel with reform laws adopted as part of Serbia’s EU accession process, the macroeconomic situation in Serbia and the reforms which the government has so far implemented with the aim of improving the social ambience.
He stressed that Germany is Serbia’s largest foreign trade partner and one of the most important investors, adding that German companies have been successfully doing business in Serbia for years and are the best recommendation to future investors.
Merkel underlined that she is familiar with the positive experiences of German investors in Serbia, adding that there is huge potential for furthering their cooperation, primarily in infrastructure, energy and most of all renewable energy sources.
She said that Serbia should pay special attention to the development of SMEs.
The meeting stressed that through its Development Bank KFW, Germany will continue to support the project to establish a Serbian development bank.
