Serbia, Slovakia sign agreement on assistance in emergency situations

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and his Slovak counterpart Daniel Lipsic signed today in Bratislava an Agreement on mutual assistance in the case of emergencies.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and his Slovak counterpart Daniel Lipsic signed today in Bratislava an Agreement on mutual assistance in the case of emergencies.

Dacic, who is on a two-day working visit to Slovakia, said after the signing of the document that it was signed as a precaution and expressed hope that it will never be implemented.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the support of Slovakia in Serbia’s European integration and attitudes towards Kosovo-Metohija.

Serbia and Slovakia are two friendly countries and I want to thank you on behalf of Serbia for the support during all these years when it comes to our European integration, as well as on your principled position about Kosovo-Metohija, he said.

Dacic pointed out that at operational level police cooperation of the two countries is very good, adding that there was a number of common actions.

He said that cooperation between the police and the ministries of the two countries is developing in other areas in terms of exchange of experiences, joint training, exercises, seminars, exchanges between police units of Backi Petrovac, inhabited by Slovaks, and Mitrovo, where Serbs live.

The Deputy Prime Minister today began a two-day visit to Slovakia during which he will visit police, prosecutor's office and parliament.
