Dinar drops again, EUR 1 = RSD 110.6

After strengthening for two days, the Serbian dinar dropped again on Wednesday, by 0.1 percent, and the official middle exchange rate now stands at RSD 110.5937 for one euro, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) has released in a statement.

The dinar is down 3.6 percent on a monthly and 6.3 percent on an annual level.

The dinar hit its historic low on March 2, with the exchange rate on the day being RSD 110.8235 per one euro. This year, the dinar was the strongest on January 11, when one unit of the hard currency was worth RSD 103.6922.

Since the beginning of the year, the NBS has sold a total of EUR 208.5 million at the interbank foreign exchange market to alleviate the excessive daily volatility of the exchange rate.

The indicative dinar-versus-dollar exchange rate was RSD 84.2683 per the basic unit of the U.S. dollar on Tuesday, a decrease by 0.7 percent compared to the day before. At the monthly level, the dinar slid against the dollar by 3.6 percent, while it dropped by as much as 12 percent compared to the same period last year.
