The 1.000-megawatt plant will be connected into the national grid in a month or two, Salehi said, Associated Press reported.
First nuclear power plant in Iran has completed fueling and should start producing power in a couple of months, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said on Saturday.
The 1.000-megawatt plant will be connected into the national grid in a month or two, Salehi said, Associated Press reported.
The Bushehr plant is not part of the Iranian nuclear programme, which represents serious concern to the West, which accuses official Tehran it is trying to produce an atomic bomb.
However, Iran denies the charges, saying its nuclear program is geared toward generating electricity and nuclear medical radioisotopes needed to treat patients.
Iran began loading the reactor with low-enriched uranium in August.
Now that it is completed, Salehi said all that remains to be done is to wait for the water inside the reactor's core to gradually reach a desired temperature, after which a series of tests need to be carried out.
“We hope the Bushehr power plant will be connected to the country's national power grid within the next one or two months,” Salehi added.
