Interior ministers of France and Germany have requested from the European Commission (EC) to postpone admission of Bulgaria and Romania to Schengen area, Bulgarian media reported.
Interior ministers of France and Germany have requested from the European Commission (EC) to postpone admission of Bulgaria and Romania to Schengen area, Bulgarian media reported.
Ministers have sent a letter addressed to EC, Belgian presidency of the Council of Europe and to upcoming Hungarian presidency that will begin on January 1, 2011.
As reasons for the delay, France and Germany ministers stressed the weaknesses demonstrated by the two countries in fighting corruption and organised crime.
They have also undescored the problems in internal border controls and refugees policy.
