American congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, shoot in the head last Saturday, continues to show signs of recovery, doctors say.

According to the neurosurgeon Michael Lemole, she opens her eyes more often, her extremities are more mobile, Radio Voice of America reports.

He added the doctors are “very much encouraged” with the fact that Giffords continues making steps in the right direction.
