The consular office in Iasi of the Republic of Moldova will open on Friday in the presence of Moldova's Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca and Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi.

'This is an important event because there is a sizeable community of Moldovan nationals living in Iasi. Opening the consular office in Iasi is in agreement whit what was previously agreed with the opening of two Romanian consular offices in Moldova - in Cahul and Balti.

The existence of a consular office in Iasi will meet the needs of the Moldovan nationals and help very much Moldova's Embassy in Bucharest,' Moldova's ambassador in Bucharest Iurie Renita told Agerpres .

Minister Leanca on Wednesday announced that ambassador Renita will conduct the festive opening of the consular office in Iasi and Minister Baconschi will lead the delegation of the Romanian Foreign Ministry that will attend the event.

Moldova's consul in Iasi will be Cezara Ghetu.

Another Romanian consular office is being currently finalsied in Ungheni.
