The organizers of the summit of the countries of Central and Southeastern Europe, which is to take place in Warsaw on May 27-28, have accepted Slovakia's request that Kosovo should appear at the meeting without state symbols, the name of Kosovo as an independent state, and joint declarations signed by the president of Kosovo.

Slovakia's President Ivan Gasparovic will, in the end, take part in the Warsaw summit after the Polish organizers accepted Slovakia's request that Kosovo should appear at the meeting without state symbols, the name of Kosovo as an independent state and joint declarations signed by the president of Kosovo, Gasparovic's spokesman Marek Trubac told Tanjug on Wednesday.

The Polish media reported on Tuesday that Serbia, Slovakia and Romania will skip the summit because Kosovo will be treated as an independent state.

Recalling that Slovakia supports Serbia and views Kosovo as a part of the Serbian territory, Trubac explained that the fact that Kosovo's President Atifete Jahjaga was invited to the summit was an obstacle to Slovakia's participation, however the problem was resolved when Poland accepted Slovakia's proposal.

Slovakia will take part in the summit. President Gasparovic made this decision on Tuesday after a meeting with Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda and lengthy talks with the Polish hosts, Trubec said.
