Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban received Leader of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) Istvana Pastor on Monday and accepted his invitation to take part in the election campaign of the Vojvodina Hungarians' party, the Vajdasag Ma website has said.

Orban and Pastor expressed their satisfaction that Serbia got the candidate status for membership of the European Union, which undoubtedly worked in the interests of Hungarians in Vojvodina and Hungary itself, said the website.

They also agreed it was a “national interest” that the Hungarian community and the SVM in Vojvodina continue being an important political actor at al political levels in Serbia.

The Hungarian prime minister should visit Vojvodina at the end April, according to Vajdasag Ma.
