Miguel Angel Moratinos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, which yesterday took over the EU presidency from Sweden, stated he strongly supports the fact that Serbia has submitted an application for candidacy for EU membership.

It is a logical and good step of the country, whose future is in the European family, Voice of America conveyed the statement by Moratinos.

Moratinos stressed that if the Serbian people want to join the EU, it is up to the EU to understand and seriously consider this.

Spain has announced that during its EU presidency the West Balkans will be one of priorities.
