Montenegrin Justice Minister Miras Radovic on Feb. 24 announced that Montenegro will reiterate its demand to Serbia to hand over evidence against individuals suspected of smuggling cocaine from South America.

Montenegrin Justice Minister Miras Radovic on Feb. 24 announced that Montenegro will reiterate its demand to Serbia to hand over evidence against individuals suspected of smuggling cocaine from South America.

Radovic told Podgorica-based Radio Antena M that the purpose of the upcoming meeting with the representatives of Serbian judicial bodies is for the two countries' judicial institutions to "find a model" of exchanging information and evidence, not only in "the Saric case," but in other cases as well.

The Montenegrin justice minister, state prosecutor and special prosecutor for organized crime will meet with Serbian judicial officials in Belgrade on Feb. 25.

Radovic announced that he will convey to his Serbian colleagues the message that the Montenegrin government is "determined and committed" to the fight against organized crime, that "Serbia's political structures have made the Saric case political," as well as that "by making unsubstantiated accusations they have attempted to discredit the legal system and state bodies of Montenegro."

He also dismissed accusations that Montenegro was hiding individuals on trial for organized crime in Serbia, who allegedly include former Serbian Football Association president Zvezdan Terzic and "controversial businessman" Stanko Subotic.
