The automatic fire has been open again in the vicinity of the Serb returnees’ camp in the village of Zac, in northern Kosmet, report the returnees.

The presence of the police at the entrance to the camp has obviously not distracted the shooters, says one of the returnees.

This is the second incident in the past 10 days, in the immediate vicinity of the camp with 22 Serb returnees, who are waiting to settle in their homes. Fortunately, nobody was injured.

The damaged house within the camp, where food is prepared, the traces of bullets are visible, and the returnees are in fear again.

The return of the Serbs to Zac is opposed by the local Albanians, who claim that among the Serbs there are those who had committed war crimes, but it has been denied with good arguments by the Serbs, who say they would not come back if there were any guilt among them.

Bogdanovic told the Beta news agency that EULEX cannot continue to observe the violence and then just to condemn it in public, adding that EULEX and KFOR must explain how it can be that the Kosovo police has not yet managed to find a single person responsible for any such attacks on returnees, even through there were several attacks over the past few weeks.

Last night’s incident in the village of Zac confirms that the KFOR cannot let the Kosovo Police Service (KPS) to be the only force in charge of the protection of Kosovo Serbs.

Bogdanovic asked EULEX and KFOR to find the attackers on the returnees and to provide full protection and security to the inhabitants of the village.

The Minister requested that KFOR or KPS assume responsibility for security of the population in the village and also urged the international community to ensure the return of refugees to the province, which Pristina is persistently preventing, and even resorting to violence.

Unknown attackers opened fire on a camp of Serb returnees in the village of Zac again last night, which is the second attack on the Serbs in this village in the last seven days.
