Kosovo Albanian Enver Sekiraca, suspected of a number of crimes in Kosovo, including the murder of a policeman, has been arrested in Dublin, based on an Interpol warrant.

Kosovo Albanian Enver Sekiraca, suspected of a number of crimes in Kosovo, including the murder of a policeman, has been arrested in Dublin, based on an Interpol warrant.

Kosovo Police Chief Resat Malici confirmed the arrest, adding that the Kosovo authorities were working to have Sekiraca extradited.

The media in Pristina reported Saturday that the biggest name of organized crime in Kosovo had been arrested in Dublin.

The Irish departments of foreign affairs and justice are considering the option to extradite Sekiraca to Kosovo, where he would be put on trial.

However, the main obstacle to this is the fact that Ireland and Kosovo do not have an extradition agreement.

The Kosovo authorities have been searching for Sekiraca since 2007, after the murder of Trijumf Raza in August that year.

Interpol has been looking for Sekiraca for organized and international crimes, sexual abuse, theft and crimes against life and health.
