Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said today in Addis Ababa that he believes that Serbia can count on the support of many African countries on all issues, particularly Kosovo-Metohija.

Jeremic told the FoNet news agency, after the second day session of the Executive Council of the African Union in Addis Ababa, that he had very successful meetings with more than 30 representatives of African countries.

He said that a large number of African countries are under pressure to recognise the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo and added that his interlocutors in Addis Ababa have been presented with the latest developments regarding the issue of Kosovo and the report of special rapporteur of the Council of Europe Dick Marty, that very few of them knew of.

Africa’s doors have been re-opened for Serbia, Jeremic said, adding that the Serbian economy and companies have s a great opportunity in African countries.

He expressed the hope that the excellent political relations with African countries will result in many opportunities for improving economic cooperation, adding that majority of African states will participate in the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Belgrade in September.
